Description

This is a historically authenticated Colt Single Action Army revolver, chambered in .44-40 and featuring the desirable "Frontier Six Shooter" marking. According to the included Colt Archive letter, serial number 153127 was part of a seven-gun shipment sent to Simmons Hardware Company in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 15, 1893. This places it squarely within the black powder frame era and enhances its value to collectors of Western and frontier-era arms.

The revolver wears a 4 ¾" barrel and exhibits a mix of patina and original blue finish with aged case hardening on the frame. Its grips appear original period walnut, though not listed on the letter. This piece remains in good working order, with a naturally aged aesthetic and clear factory roll marks, including “COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER” on the barrel.

This example would make an excellent addition to any Colt or Old West collection and is a prime representation of what many would consider the quintessential American revolver of the 19th century.
