Description
This unique Colt Combat Commander represents a key moment in firearms innovation—customized by L.W. Seecamp to become the world's first double-action .45 ACP autoloader. Originally manufactured in 1973, this Commander was part of a limited run of approximately 2,000 pistols converted by Seecamp in the 1970s–80s. The modification includes a DA/SA trigger mechanism and a re-applied serial number on the dust cover, replacing the factory placement.
The pistol wears a matte nickel finish with a stainless beavertail safety and grip screws, enhancing both corrosion resistance and aesthetics. Features include a grooved arched mainspring housing, Pachmayr wraparound grips for superior recoil control, and upgraded sights—a fiber optic front and Heine-style rear. Whether you're a collector or 1911 enthusiast, this rare Seecamp conversion offers historic value and functional performance.
