Description

This Enfield No.1 Mk III Short Magazine Lee–Enfield (SMLE) was produced in 1916, right in the midst of World War I. Chambered in .303 British, this bolt-action rifle was the backbone of the British and Commonwealth forces, renowned for its rugged reliability, ten-round magazine, and exceptionally smooth bolt action. Its rapid rate of fire made it one of the most effective infantry rifles of its era.

The rifle retains its military walnut stock with a brass butt disc and shows field wear consistent with its service history. The receiver and metal parts exhibit a patina that speaks to its age, while still presenting the characteristic Enfield profile. Equipped with a ladder-style rear sight, protected front sight, and sling swivels, it remains in its original military configuration.

As a 1916-dated example, this rifle is a direct connection to the soldiers who carried the SMLE in the trenches of the Great War. It is an excellent addition for collectors of WWI and WWII military arms, as well as enthusiasts of early 20th-century bolt-action rifles.
